RELT Reflexive English Language Training |
||
Welcome to the RELT website!
Sean Savoie is currently doing a residency and has very limited availability to teach private classes. Please feel to use the articles on this website. If you click on the "articles" tab to the left, you can access many articles written about English grammar, writing, slang, and cultural issues.
The primary purpose of this site is to provide help and guidance for all students who are preparing to enter a college or university and for students of English as a foreign or second language. This site provides articles and advice about using grammar, writing and revising essays, discussing and writing about literature, interpreting American culture, understanding and using idiomatic expressions, and applying to college. Students who are serious about mastering the use of English should view the courses, services, and calendar sections of this website and contact Sean Savoie directly for more information. In short, the methodology driving the teaching techniques of Sean
Savoie springs from the knowledge that all of the arts-- visual
arts, literature, martial arts, music, language, architecture,
dance, etc...-- contain
similar patterns that are transferrable and may be used not only
metaphorically, but technically and systematically to master other
skills, such as language. At the core of this is increased awareness of
function and form. The system inherent in the English language must
be broken down and built up, improving a student's inductive and
deductive reasoning skills in a way that becomes a reflex (hence the
name Reflexive English Language Training). Ideally, the less-advanced student achieves this without even realizing what is taking
place. This is the very nature of a reflexive action, which makes
use of muscle memory attained through systematic repetition and
drills.
Access to all of the information on this website is currently free. Please learn from the essays and articles, all of which have been previously published in the New York Community Times, a newspaper that serves the Chinese-speaking community in New York City. None of the articles may be reprinted or republished without the written consent of Sean Savoie.
